HELLO.

I'm glad you're here.

Intro

I'm Yvette, an HPCSA Registered Counsellor in private practice based in
Cape Town, South Africa.
I offer in-person sessions from my centrally located counselling rooms
in Gardens, as well as online sessions for those who prefer the flexibility of meeting remotely.
I work with adults of all ages through times of transition, emotional strain, or overwhelm, and provide counselling in both English and Afrikaans.

Life continually asks us to adapt.

Relationships evolve, our responsibilities change, and life rarely unfolds exactly as we expect. Sometimes these transitions happen gradually; at other times they arrive without warning.

Counselling offers an opportunity to pause, make sense of these experiences, and respond with greater clarity, confidence, and intention.

If this feels like the kind of support you're looking for, you're welcome to get in touch. An introductory conversation can help us decide whether working together feels like the right fit.

APPROACH

MY APPROACH

My work is grounded in a developmental understanding of what it means to be human. I don't see people as collections of symptoms to be fixed, but as individuals whose ways of thinking, feeling, and relating have developed in response to the lives they've lived.

Together, we become curious about these patterns—not to dwell on the past, but to understand how they continue to shape the present. As we develop greater insight, new possibilities emerge: different choices, greater psychological flexibility, and more authentic ways of engaging with ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.

Grounded in developmental psychology, attachment theory, and an understanding of the relationship between our nervous system, emotions, and behaviour, I integrate reflective exploration with practical strategies that support meaningful and lasting change.

Most of my work takes place within a focused timeframe, typically between four and twelve sessions. We begin by developing a shared understanding of your goals and work collaboratively towards meaningful, realistic outcomes.

What you can expect from our work together

A collaborative and respectful therapeutic relationship.

Thoughtful exploration of the patterns shaping your current experience.

Practical strategies and evidence-informed tools that can be applied in everyday life.

A focused and flexible process tailored to your goals and circumstances.

At the heart of my practice is a therapeutic relationship built on trust, curiosity, and respect. My aim is to create a space where you feel understood without judgement, challenged with care, and supported as you navigate change in ways that feel authentic and sustainable.

ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

I began my career in the creative industries of music and design before moving into the fast-paced world of corporate fashion buying. Alongside my professional career, experiences such as becoming a parent deepened my interest in identity, purpose, and the challenges of balancing multiple roles. Together with a longstanding curiosity about human behaviour and relationships, they marked the beginning of a gradual shift towards the work I do today.

Outside of work, I value the things that help me slow down and connect with what's meaningful and real—time with people close to me, places that inspire me, good food, being in nature, and pursuing interests that continue to challenge and grow me.
